Our Repair Shop uses faulty or unwanted IT equipment to create usable and affordable units for sale to the general public or as part of local community programs we may run. The work is performed by young people who have learning disabilities and provides them the opportunity to learn new skills and gain confidence as part of a programme to find meaningful employment for them.
All work is supervised by trained skills coaches and all equipment is fully tested before being made available.
The availability of certain equipment is very dependent on the supply of donations from the public and local businesses therefore our stock varies from week to week and normally with only one unit of a particular specification available. However should potential customers find that we do not have stock of a particular item at a given time they can place an order for a standard specification at Base and Base+ and when we have something available we will contact you to determine if it can meet your needs.
Desktops and Laptops are provided with a base Windows 10 operating system where licensing permits or at our discretion may have Linux installed. Tablets will come with whatever operating system the hardware can support.
We do not have the authority to install applications such as Microsoft Office so please do not expect these to be on the machine. If you need assistance to install applications such as Zoom then please make an appointment to meet with our PC Trainer who will help you through the process. There may be a small charge for this service.
Our normal mode of equipment provision is by collection from our Landport Community Centre operation. In exceptional circumstances where the customer is physically or financially prevented from coming to the Centre we may be able to offer a delivery service in Portsmouth but please check by calling or emailing beforehand.
We provide equipment that is generally long past its manufacturer’s guarantee period but is fully tested and offered at very low prices. However we want you to be confident and satisfied with your purchase thus if you encounter any problems within 3 months of your purchase date then please bring it into us and we will try and address the problem free of charge. In the unlikely event that we cannot resolve the problem we will offer you a replacement of similar specification and if you are not satisfied then we will refund you in full.
